This agent may be used in situations when the use of the WMI interface after the DCOM protocol is not recommended in a given network environment, i.e. because of safety issues. It is used by the discovery agent to create a list of hardware of a given workstation.

Its activity is limited to short periods when it is being queried by the discovery agent. Apart from that it remains passive.
